NYCC Selected for Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Site Visit

Seneca Falls:  NYCC President Frank J. Nicchi, DC, MS, announced that NYCC was the only educational institution selected, nationally, for a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award site visit.  Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards, long regarded as the “gold standard” of quality awards and named after Malcolm Baldrige, 26th Secretary of Commerce, are bestowed through a program managed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology to promote excellence in organizational performance, recognize the achievements and results of U.S. organizations, and to publicize successful performance strategies.

Of the 70 applications received this year, only 15 institutions were selected for a site visit and of those NYCC was the only institution of higher education.

Since 2001, only seven educational institutions have received the Baldrige Award – none in the area of natural healthcare education.   And of the seven education winners, only three were institutions of higher education.

A site team comprised of eight people will visit the NYCC campus for several days beginning October 18, 2009, meeting with faculty, staff and administrators throughout the College.  Awards will be announced late November and awardees acknowledged early spring, 2010, at a ceremony attended by the President of the United States in Washington, D.C.
