Description: Applied Kinesiology in Clinical Practice Applied kinesiology (AK) can be defined as the clinical application of the study of movement and function. It is a continually evolving system that provides the doctor with the skills and knowledge to purposely, systematically, and logically ascertain the optimal treatment for the patient. The AK doctor determines what is not functioning within the body’s systems and gets them functioning again as a whole. Specific muscle tests are used as a primary feedback mechanism to examine how a person's body is functioning. When properly applied, the outcome of an AK diagnosis will determine the best form of therapy for the patient. Description: Clinical Posture Assessment, Therapy & Exercise Create a Posture Practice Monday Morning... Learn research-based biomechanical concepts and exercises and experience them for yourself during this "lecture & lab" format seminar. Our hands-on approach ensures you learn the techniques to not only assess and strengthen your patient's posture, but your own as well. Posture principles and patient-friendly demos from Dr. Weiniger's new book, Stand Taller-Live Longer, provide a practical framework to begin creating a Posture Practice on Monday morning. "Move Well to Age Well" is a concept supported by basic biology, current research and common sense. Exercise helps bodies age better, but you can only exercise in the ways you can move. Discover the importance of full-range motion, and the effect of loss of mobility on function and mortality in older adults. You will learn essential tools like balance exam procedures and StrongPostureTM exercises to potentially reverse the downward slide frequently seen in later life. Meet Your Instructor - Dr. Steven P. Weiniger Since graduating from New York Chiropractic College, Dr. Weiniger has focused on posture rehab and biomechanics in his private chiropractic practice outside of Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Weiniger is a post graduate faculty member for the University of Bridgeport Chiropractic College and lectures nationally on posture and rehab exercise. He is the author of the Posture Assessment chapter in Cipriano's Photographic Manual of Regional Orthopedic and Neurological Tests, 4th Edition. In December 2005, Dr. Weiniger participated as an appointed delegate in the White House Conference on Aging, a decennial event held to develop recommendations for the President and Congress on issues, policy and research in the field of aging. His articles on posture, anti-aging, exercise, and practice management are published by newspapers and journals across the country. Dr. Weiniger also serves as Managing Partner of BodyZone.com.

Description: Evidence-Based Practice and Clinical Documentation" This 6-hour continuing education (CE) seminar introduces the chiropractor to the principles of evidence-based practice (EBP). Understanding the role of EBP in modern health care is absolutely essential for a successful chiropractic practice because EBP has metamorphosed into evidence-based policy making. Thus, my intent is to empower chiropractors with an armamentarium of evidence-based, scientific information that will enable them to fully succeed in practice. The purpose of this program, therefore, is to fill a niche by presenting chiropractors with the tools necessary to help them navigate the health care system and practice using an evidence-based paradigm. At the conclusion of this seminar, participants will be able to describe the fundamentals of clinical research and, more importantly, recognize how clinical research affects diverse areas of practice such as utilization review, peer review, and medical necessity. The clinician will also learn how to critically evaluate the research literature and begin to write a case report. An interactive workshop will be used to teach the clinician how to integrate research evidence into daily practice. The information presented in this seminar will benefit chiropractic students, recent graduates, and veteran chiropractors.

Therapies to induce or restore individual normalcy include but are not limited to: specific joint manipulation or mobilization, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, meridian therapy, clinical nutrition, dietary management, emotional support or modalities, lifestyle changes, and various reflex procedures. Description: Designed to assist in providing testimony for PIP cases, too! Includes Certificate of Attendance - Issued by NYCC Program objective is to understand MRI concepts and the application of them when reading cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine and extremity MRI’s, specifically when dealing with spinal trauma in the courtroom. Presenter: Terry Yochum, DC, DACBR (anticipated) Where: Days Inn - Bridgewater (Rte 22 East) When: Saturday - January 23, 2010 • Saturday 8:30am-5pm (includes lunch) Fee: $150 (ANJC Members, Only) In recent years, an Appellate Division case was approved for publication by the Administrative Office of the Courts that impacts chiropractors in NJ who testify in court on behalf of their patients in automobile accident cases. The court held that the treating chiropractor did not have the expertise to testify as to his patient’s MRI findings in court and that the rules of evidence required the testimony of a radiologist qualified to interpret MRI films. The same result would pertain if the witness was an MD unqualified to interpret MRI’s. For the third year ANJC has taken affirmative action in presenting programs and in establishing a certificate of attendance in conjunction with NYCC to prove to judges and lawyers in NJ that chiropractors, upon completion of this program, are more than competent in providing opinions regarding MRI’s of the spine and are qualified to provide reliable testimony in court as to what the films show. As a result, many members informed ANJC that after taking the course, this was received positively by the courts when testifying.

Since AK draws together the core elements of many complementary therapies, it provides an interdisciplinary approach to health care. It is true, functional integrative health care. Eugene Charles D.C, DIBAK Dr. Eugene Charles received his doctor of chiropractic degree from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1987 and in 1994 he earned his Diplomate degree in applied kinesiology. He currently teaches two 100-hour postgraduate courses certifying doctors of all disciplines in applied kinesiology. One of the courses is in Manhattan and one is up in upstate New York near The New York Chiropractic College. Dr. Charles recently authored a manual entitled Precision Adjusting For The Master Chiropractor. This manual presents, for the first time, a fitness regimen geared toward chiropractors and the chiropractic adjustment, and a complete guide to precision adjusting. Eugene has also written Antidotes For Indiscretions™ to help people enjoy good health even with a few unhealthy habits and 365 Emotional Vitamins™ as a daily dose of inspiring food for thought. Dr. Charles has appeared as a health expert on the WB Morning News and is a frequent guest on the radio show Global Medicine Review. He was also featured on the cover of Chiropractic Products Magazine in April 2006 Dr. Charles maintains a private practice in New York City and can be contacted at (800) 351- 5450 or at www.charlesseminars.com.
